Prof. Dr. Mohammed Masud Rahman

Professor Dr. Mohammed Masud Rahman is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Islami Bank Securities Limited (IBSL). He is also an Independent Director, a Member of the Risk Management Committee, and a Member of the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC (IBBPLC).

Mr. Rahman was born in a Muslim family of Khulna in 1958. He completed B. Com (Hons.) and M. Com from the Department of Finance, University of Dhaka. He obtained Postgraduate Fellowship of the Department of Accounting & Finance, University of Manchester, UK, and Ph.D. from Aligarh Muslim University, India. He started his teaching career as a Lecturer in 1982, Department of Finance, University of Dhaka. He was a visiting Professor of North South University of Dhaka. At present he is a Professor (LPR), Department of Finance, University of Dhaka.

During his long professional life, Mr. Rahman has taken the course of foreign exchange and risk management at MBA level, and many other courses like Investment, Portfolio Management, Corporate Finance, Multinational Financial Management, Managerial Economics, Macroeconomics, International Economics, Government Economics, Business Statistics and Development Economics etc. at undergraduate level. His main areas of concentration are Foreign Exchange and Development Economics. Mr. Rahman published various Research Monograph such as “Environmental Consideration in Institutional Finance of Bangladesh”, Bureau of Business Research, University of Dhaka, in 1995 and “Effects of Devaluation of Devaluation on the Balance of Trade of Bangladesh: 1972-1992”, Bureau of Business Research, University of Dhaka, in 1997. He also published different Articles like “Institutional Agricultural Credit of Bangladesh: A Trend Analysis.” DhakaUniversity Studies-Part C, 1983; Financial Management of Public Sector Enterprises: A Case of BCIC.” Dhaka University Studies-Part C, 1986; “Small Scale Entrepreneurship: A Case Study.” Dhaka University Studies-Part C, 1990; “Evaluation of WTO from the Perspective of Bangladesh” Dhaka University Studies-Part C, 2005; and “An Enquiry into CPI from the Macroeconomic Perspective” Journal of Finance & Banking, 2006. Mr. Rahman held the positions of Director, MBA Program, Department of Finance, University of Dhaka, 2005-2007 and Chairman, Department of Finance, University of Dhaka, from January 14, 2013 to January 13, 2016.

Md. Abdus Salam FCA, FCS

Mr. Md. Abdus Salam FCA, FCS is a Member of the Board of Directors of Islami Bank Securities Limited (IBSL). He is also an Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC (IBBPLC), and he served as the elected President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) in 2013. He has been serving the Institute as the Council Member since 2010. Mr. Salam was the Board Member of South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) - an Official Body of the SAARC for the year 2013. He was also a Board Member of Dhaka Stock Exchange PLC (2013), Chittagong Stock Exchange PLC (2013), Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market, (2013) of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Foundation (2013). He was in the Board of Governors of National Academy of Planning and Development, Ministry of Planning, Government of Bangladesh. He is currently serving the Coal Power Generation Company of Bangladesh as the GoB Nominee. Mr. Salam is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) and also the founder President of Institute of Supply Management Bangladesh. He is a Life Member of Bangladesh Computer Society and the Bangladesh Economic Association. In his long career, he served in a number of government, autonomous bodies and multilateral international development organizations including UNDP, ADB, The World Bank, CIDA, DFID, NORAD, SIDA, EC, DANIDA under various capacities in the fields of financial management, auditing and governance. He was associated with the Primary Education Development Program in Bangladesh having 11 Development Partners including the World Bank and the ADB. He was also the technical adviser of the IDA Technical Assistance Project for Chartered Accountants titled, “Development of Accounting and Auditing Standards in Bangladesh” financed by the World Bank. He was the Director of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC from 2010 to 2015 in the capacity of Depositor Director and Independent Director. Mr. Salam, presented a number of technical papers in the National and International Conferences, Seminars and Workshops. Being a widely traveled personality, he visited in United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal.

Md. Omar Faruk Khan

Mr. Md. Omar Faruk Khan is the Member of the Board of Directors of Islami Bank Securities Limited (IBSL). At present he is the MANAGING DIRECTOR of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC (IBBPLC). Previously he served the Bank as Additional Managing Director and also served NRB Bank Limited as Managing Director (current charge). An expert banker with 37 years’ rich career, Mr. Khan served as the head in a number of wing, division, zone office and branches including International Banking Wing and Local Office, the largest operational unit of this Bank. He joined Islami Bank in 1986 after completing master’s degree in Sociology from Dhaka University. He is an Associate of the Institute of Bankers Bangladesh and a Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) of the International Chamber of Commerce. He participated in various seminars and training programs on banking including credit management in Switzerland, Dubai, Thailand, Malaysia and India. Mr. Khan played catalyst role in achieving the organizational objectives of the bank.

Mohammad Ali

Mr. Mohammad Ali is the Member of the Board of Directors of Islami Bank Securities Limited (IBSL). At present he is an Executive Director (Acting) of Islami Bank Foundation. Mr.Mohammad Ali was the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC with the status of Deputy Managing Director. He comes of a noble Muslim family and was born in 1957 in the district of Sirajgonj. He joined in Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC as Assistant Vice President in 2001. In his journey of bright career in Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, he debuted as head of Department at Project Investment Division-II, now renamed in Retail Consumer & Real Estate Investment Division (RC&REID). He worked as head of department at Corporate Investment Division-I, head of Division at Corporate Investment Division-II & Investment Administration Division, head of Wing at Risk Management Wing, Internal Control & Compliance Wing, Operations Wing, and Financial Affairs Wing during his long services with the bank. Prior to this, he worked as Construction Manager, Project Coordinator, Senior Engineer and project Engineer in various engineering projects at home and abroad. Mr. Mohammad Ali obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 1980. He also obtained his Master of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand, in 1992. He has also completed Diploma in Islamic Banking (DIB)-I. He is highly dedicated and successful banker with excellency in all areas of banking activities. In his flamboyant successful career, he participated in different regional and international conference, Seminar and workshop on Islamic Finance and Banking Operation at home and aboard. In these connection, he visited Philippines, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Austria, Singapore and Nigeria.

Md. Refat Hossen

Md. Refat Hossen is the Managing Director (Current Charge) and Company Secretary of Islami Bank Securities Limited (IBSL), a sister concern of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC (IBBPLC), the largest private bank in the country. He has been serving as Managing Director (CC) since 15 October 2025, and earlier held the position of Managing Director & CEO (CC) from 31 October 2023 to 05 November 2024.

Mr. Hossen joined Islami Bank Securities Limited in December 2010 as Principal Officer and has since held various leadership roles including Head of Internal Control and Compliance Division and Head of Human Resources Division. In 2019, he was promoted to Senior Principal Officer (SPO) & Company Secretary, in 2022 to First Assistant Vice President (FAVP) & Company Secretary, and in 2025 to Assistant Vice President (AVP) & Company Secretary. He possesses more than 14 years of comprehensive experience in the Investment Banking Sector. Before joining IBSL, he worked at Mutual Trust Bank (MTB) Securities as Officer & Head of Branch, and at Mona Financial Consultancy & Securities Limited (MFCSL) as Senior Executive.

Born in 1979 in Bhola District, Bangladesh, in a noble Muslim family, Mr. Hossen holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Daffodil International University (DIU) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Capital Market (PGDCM) from Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM). He also holds a global credential, the Chartered Global Investment Analyst (CGIA) from the CGIA Institute, USA.
